Reverend Billy Graham tells of a time early in his ministry when he arrived in a small town to preach a sermon. Wanting to mail a letter, he asked a young boy where the post office was. When the boy had told him, Dr. Graham thanked him and said, "If you'll come to the Baptist Church this evening, you can hear me telling everyone how to get to heaven." "I don't think I'll be there," the boy said. "You don't even know where your way to the post office."
The classically minded among us may have noted a new TV ad for Microsoft's Internet Explorer e-mail program which uses the musical theme of the "Confutatis Maledictis" from Mozart's Requiem. "Where do you want to go today?" is the cheery line on the screen, while the chorus sings "Confutatis maledictis, flammis acribus addictis." For those of you who have not studied Latin, this translates to "The damned and accursed are consigned to the flames of hell." Good to know that Microsoft has done its research!
Before we were married Wife used to always say, "You're only interested in one thing." Trouble is now though, after 36 years, I've forgotten what the hell it was.
